Sunnundalu/ lentil dessert


Udad dal – 2 cups

Sugar – 1 cup

Rice – 1 tsp

Cashew nuts – 1/4 th cup

Raisins – 1/4th cup

Cardamom powder- 1/4th tsp

Ghee/ clarified butter as required

Serves 10


  • Dry roast the udad dal in a pan till it turns golden on low-medium. Add the rice & roast for a couple of minutes
  • Blend it to make a fine powder and set aside
  • In the same pan add ghee/ clarified butter & add the dry fruits, fry them till the cashews turns light brown and set aside
  • Put the powdered udad dal, sugar, dry fruits & cardamom powder into the pan and and heated ghee so as to make them into small balls/ laddus
